Digital warehouse management with RFID and mobile application

For our client, HYDRAULICS s.r.o., we designed and implemented a modern warehouse management system that brought full digitalization, automation, and precision in inventory records. The solution combines piece-by-piece material records, RFID identification, a mobile application for warehouse workers, and visualization of the work queue on screens in production.

Thanks to these technologies, we managed to improve material traceability, speed up warehouse operations, and connect production with the warehouse, which led to increased efficiency, reduced error rates, and better control over material movement.

RFID material marking for accurate records

Each material is marked with a magnetic RFID tag upon receipt, allowing for rapid identification and tracking of movements.

RFID marking is particularly suitable for metallurgical materials, where conventional paper or plastic labels are not practical. This gives warehouse workers an immediate overview of each piece of material, its location and stock status.

Mobile application for PDA for warehouse workers

Warehouse workers work with a modern mobile application that runs on PDA terminals and allows all key operations to be performed digitally:

  • Receipt of material to the warehouse and its marking with an RFID tag

No paper documents, everything is immediately in the system.

  • Material transfers between warehouse positions

Including the possibility of mass transfers and loading of warehouse positions using QR codes.

  • Material issue for orders

The warehouse worker knows exactly which material to allocate to a specific order. The order can also be loaded using the QR code from the accompanying sheet.

  • Inventory

RFID tags enable quick and accurate control of warehouse stocks.

Thanks to PDA terminals, the error rate in warehouse operations has been significantly reduced, the need for manual data rewriting has been eliminated and warehouse workers can work faster and more efficiently.

Visualization on screens in production

We have supplied a work queue visualization system to the production area, which is displayed on televisions located directly in the production area.

This system allows workers to monitor the work queue in real time. The work queue is also available on the PDA, which means that warehouse workers can immediately respond to changes in production planning.

Integration with automated material tower

The solution also includes a module for material management in an automated storage tower, which is used for the efficient storage of metallurgical materials. The module allows for:

  • A precise overview of the material in the tower

Each piece of material has an assigned storage position and is monitored in the system.

  • Monitoring of minimum and optimal warehouse stocks

The system monitors stock limits and automatically generates replenishment lists, thereby ensuring smooth replenishment of material and eliminating the risk of its shortage.

Thanks to this connection, the client has constant control over the stock status in the tower and can quickly respond to the need to replenish material for production.

I must confirm that the entire system and the connection with the ERP from Apptive brings a significant increase in the efficiency of not only warehouse management, but also the preparation of materials for production. We are a custom manufacturer, so we need a flexible and operational tool. The entire solution runs in the Apptive MES system, which provides a connection between its warehouse management and the client's main ERP system. ERP QI is primarily an accounting system, while Apptive MES provides detailed piece records and connection to mobile terminals. Data between systems is constantly synchronized so that the customer maintains the correct status of the warehouse accounting records in ERP QI in accordance with the actual stock status.

The introduction of a modern warehouse system with RFID, a mobile application and visualization of the production process brought the client significant acceleration of operations, better employee awareness and higher accuracy of warehouse data.

Thanks to the connection with the automated tower and ERP QI, the company has full control over inventories, the history of materials and their use in production, which leads to the optimization of warehouse management and reduction of operating costs.
